STATEMENT ON PROTEST ACTION AT THE BENDIGO ELECTORATE OFFICE

30/09/2025

This is the seventh time in less than a month.

Protest is an important part of democracy, but so is vulnerable community members having access to the information and services my electorate office provides.

In my view, the balance has been tipped and it's the Bendigo community that is suffering.

Whilst the office is closed, the constituents of the Bendigo electorate will continue to be serviced by hardworking and dedicated electorate officers. My team and I are still here to help and can be reached on 03 5443 9055 or at [email protected]

The Albanese Government is acting on climate change and seizing the economic opportunity before our nation.

We have accepted the Climate Change Authority's advice to set a new 2035 target cutting emissions by 62-70 per cent, compared to 2005 levels.

This is ambitious but achievable. It sends the right investment signal, responds to the science and is delivered with a practical plan.

The global shift to clean energy represents one of the biggest economic transformations since the Industrial Revolution - and it presents Australia with an enormous economic and jobs opportunity.

The Liberals and Nationals can't even decide whether climate change is real or not, and want to walk away from doing anything about it.

On the other hand, green extremists push a fantasy that we can end climate change tomorrow - and that doing so somehow starts with shutting the Bendigo Electorate Office.

My focus remains on delivering for the people of Bendigo.
